PlantCareApp privacy policy

Last updated 20 September 2026

PlantCareApp exists to water your plants on time, not to follow you around. The app needs no account, shows no ads and uses no third-party trackers.

Who processes your data

PlantCareApp is published by El Loco Apps, based in Ghent, Belgium. For questions about this policy or about your data: [email protected].

What the app keeps on your device

Everything you enter stays on your own device by default:

This data is not sent to a server automatically. If you uninstall the app, it goes with it, unless you had synced it earlier.

Syncing between devices (optional)

To see the same plants on several devices, you can turn on syncing with a garden code you create yourself. Your plant data and schedules are then stored on a server El Loco Apps runs in Belgium. The garden code is the only key to that data: no email address, name or profile is linked to it.

Only share your garden code with people who may see or change your plants. Whoever has the code has access to the data.

As long as you don't sync, the app sends no plant data anywhere.

What the app does not do

Permissions on your device

PermissionWhat it is for
NotificationsTo remind you to water or repot. Reminders are scheduled on the device itself.
Camera or photo libraryOnly when you add a photo to a plant yourself. The photo stays on your device, or travels along if you turn on syncing.
InternetTo load the app and, if you enable it, to sync.

You can refuse or later withdraw any permission in your device settings. The app keeps working; only that particular feature stops.

Technical server data

If you use syncing, the web server keeps standard logs with the connection's IP address, the time and the type of request. This is needed to run the service and to spot abuse. Those logs are kept for at most 30 days and then deleted.

How long data is kept

Having your data deleted

Inside the app you can delete plants and photos at any time. To have your synced data wiped from the server, email your garden code to [email protected] with a request to delete it. This is done within 30 days, with no copy kept.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to processing. Write to [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels (dataprotectionauthority.be).

Children

The app is not aimed at children under 13 and asks for no personal data.

Security

The connection to the sync server runs over HTTPS. That server is self-managed and kept up to date; the data is reachable only with the garden code. No system is completely secure: don't share your garden code and use a screen lock on your device.

Changes

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, the new version appears on this page with a new date at the top.
